Pokémon Pocket: Dual Fusion Kicks Off a New Season with Mega Mewtwo X ex

Pokémon TCG Pocket: Dual Blades expansion featuring Mega Mewtwo X and Pikachu

Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket received the Dual Fusion expansion on October 28, marking the beginning of a new series within the game. The update brings more than just new cards: it also introduces changes to player progression, deck-building improvements, and new activities to engage the community.

With the introduction of Dual-Type Pokémon and several gameplay improvements, this new chapter promises to refresh both the collecting experience and the strategies used in battles.

Dual Fusion Introduces Dual-Type Pokémon

The main highlight of the collection is the debut of Dual-Type Pokémon, which combine two different types on a single card. Among the key additions are Mega Mewtwo X ex, featuring Psychic and Fighting types, and Mega Greninja ex, featuring Water and Darkness types.

The expansion also introduces new cards and illustrations featuring popular Pokémon, including Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, along with other additions for collectors to discover.

Players can explore two booster packs with different highlights, centered around Mega Mewtwo X and Pikachu. These new cards open the door to fresh combinations, but their impact on competitive battles remains to be seen.

Player Level Cap Increased and Deck-Building Improvements

One of the most significant changes in this new series is the increase in the player level cap from 60 to 70. This gives players who were approaching the previous limit new progression goals to work toward.

The deck system is also receiving improvements. Players can now save up to 30 different decks, making it easier to organize strategies and experiment with new cards.

Another new feature is Community Decks, which allows players to browse popular decks and those used by friends, then copy deck lists to their own collection. Even if you don't own every required card yet, you can save a deck and work toward completing it as you obtain more cards.

Other changes include an overhaul of Step Battles, with new challenges associated with expansion releases, as well as improvements to the friends section, which now allows players to assign nicknames to friends and send friend requests.

New Decks, Missions, and Special Rewards

To help players explore the new cards, six Dual Fusion Rental Decks are available for a limited time. They feature strategies built around Pokémon such as Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex, allowing players to test different combinations before investing in their own decks.

The update also introduces a new Dragon-Type Deluxe Deck, featuring Mega Rayquaza ex, Dragonair, and other cards. It's another option for players looking to try a ready-made strategy and expand their battle options.

Among the special activities, the Second Anniversary Celebration Campaign offers a ticket that can be exchanged for a booster pack guaranteed to contain a card of ★★ rarity. Additional missions are also planned, offering useful Trainer cards such as Sabrina and Red, alongside emblem events, battle rewards, and themed promo cards.

Special Packs and the Pikachu Event

Another new addition is the First Partners Special Packs, arriving on October 31. Unlike traditional boosters, these packs use a special energy that replenishes weekly, and each pack guarantees at least one ★-rarity card.

The game also features the Pika Pika! Pikachu Missions event, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. By logging in for ten days, players can obtain a special immersive Pikachu ex card, along with packs featuring different Pikachu cards and themed accessories.

These activities accompany an important change to the release schedule: booster releases are moving from approximately four-week intervals to six-week cycles. The goal is to give players more time to complete collections, enjoy events, and experiment with new cards before the next expansion arrives.

What Will Dual Blades Mean for the Pokémon Pocket Meta?

With the arrival of Dual-Type Pokémon and new deck-building possibilities, Dual Fusion could bring significant changes to the Pokémon Pocket meta. Mega Mewtwo X ex and Mega Greninja ex are certainly worth watching, but it's still too early to determine which cards will become the strongest or which booster pack will have the greatest competitive impact.

The performance of these new cards will depend on the combinations players discover, the strategies they develop, and the results of actual battles. For now, the best approach is to experiment with the new additions and follow how the competitive scene evolves over the coming weeks.

More than just a new collection, Dual Fusion marks the beginning of a new chapter for Pokémon Pocket, bringing changes that go beyond booster packs and promising to refresh the collecting and battling experience.
