Japan Launches a Real-Life "Blue Lock" Project

Japan has decided to bring part of the idea behind Blue Lock into the real world.

The Japan Football Association (JFA) has announced the FUTURE CAMP inspired by BLUE LOCK, a project designed to identify talented young Japanese players around the world and integrate them into the country's national team development system.

What is FUTURE CAMP?

The program will bring together young players with Japanese nationality or Japanese ancestry for technical evaluations, training sessions, and matches observed by federation scouts and coaches.

The first edition will take place in August 2026 in California, United States. The goal is to discover promising athletes living outside Japan who might otherwise be overlooked by traditional scouting methods.

A Real-Life Blue Lock?

While it does not feature the elimination-style competitions seen in the anime, the project closely resembles Blue Lock's core concept: finding players capable of taking Japanese football to the next level.

The manga's creator, Muneyuki Kaneshiro, took part in the announcement and stated that a "real-life Blue Lock" is about to begin.

Looking Toward the Future of Japanese Football

The initiative is part of the JFA's long-term plan to further strengthen Japan's national team in the years ahead.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup capturing the attention of football fans worldwide, the project shows that Japan is already investing in the next generation of talent and aiming to become an even stronger force on the international stage.

And you, do you think a project inspired by Blue Lock could help Japan discover its next football superstar?
