Naruto and Sasuke are back at it again, but this time their rivalry has moved away from the ninja world and onto the basketball court. A new promotional animation for Naruto Mobile introduces Sasuke as a basketball star, turning one of anime's most famous rivalries into an unexpected sports showdown.
Naruto and Sasuke Play Basketball
The new CGI trailer features Naruto vs. Sasuke in a basketball match, with both characters using their signature abilities during the game. Naruto relies on his Shadow Clones, while Sasuke uses his Sharingan to keep up with his opponent. The match eventually turns into a spectacular combination of basketball and ninja techniques, including Sasuke transforming the ball into a Chidori before finishing the play.
Despite looking like a crossover with a basketball anime such as Slam Dunk, the animation is actually part of the promotion for Naruto Mobile's new A-Rank character, Sasuke [Basketball Star]. The character was introduced alongside a special event that began on September 29, 2026, allowing players to obtain him through in-game missions.
What Is Naruto Mobile?
Naruto Mobile is a free-to-play mobile action fighting game based on the Naruto and Naruto Shippuden franchises. Developed for the Chinese market, the game features a large roster of ninjas and regularly introduces new versions of familiar characters with different abilities and themes.
The basketball-themed Sasuke is another example of how the game can reinterpret established characters outside their traditional roles. The new promotional short keeps the personalities and abilities of Naruto and Sasuke recognizable while placing them in a completely different setting.
An Unexpected Naruto Crossover
Rather than being an official collaboration with an existing basketball franchise, the project works as a Naruto Mobile reinterpretation of the characters. That makes the trailer particularly unusual: it combines the visual language of a sports anime with the spectacular action and abilities normally associated with Naruto.
